CAROLINA HERRERA: NYFW 2011- Women On Top

CAROLINA HERRERA still effortlessly slips into the runway and continues to amaze us with her unending display of fine lines and low key elegance.

Whether it's on the garden or nature tripping, the unbashed zest for life in her collection, reflects Lady Carolina's feline grace in a whirl of chrysanthemums and daisies ...this La Herrera of luxe proves that she's still got 'it'.

The spectrum: a garden fresh of Korean male peasant inspired kimono complete with brimmed hats and obi-bows.

A middle ground between pale leaf and acid green to sport just the right mix of guava.Yes, floral and forest greens are bang on target for ultimate fashion presence. An opium red jacquard in floral or flight of herons with waist band, karate belt bows were ramp worthy outfits. An 18th century flower drawings added the garden spectacle.

For the more opulent in style comes the deep neck in red satin duchess tops, with relax cut and wrapped around asymmetrical skirt.

For the more classic, is the white & black ensemble- feminity with a little masculine touch. The daisy print knee length black skirt cut to perfection, paired with white, echoes fresh and timeless wardrobes.

Deep green little dress with deep neckline with yellow clover petals on oneside gives a classic statement..luxurious touch.

Feel divine in a pearl white floral print long slinky skirt paired with off-shouldered red bodice, the black belt is in harmony with this classic piece. The sultry white long skirt with insertion is definitely alluring with black top and a dash pf flower prints, extravagant piece with controlled whims.

Merge bohemian with modern Korean art sensibilities define an Herrera woman for spring. Knotted obi-bow on a red bodice top makes a trendy contrast to bubbled layer in light brown on top, narrow slim skirt underneath in white with printed flowers.

La Herrera emulates more the runway's summer look with her formatted voluminous skirts. Clean lines with bias layers of rich low toned fabrics completely in sync with HERRERA WOMEN in mind....women with taste...women on top.

JASON WU: Ready -to- Wu Collection at NYFW S/S 2011

Michelle Obama's white, one-shoulder gown by 27 year-old Taiwan-born Jason Wu for Pres. Barack Obama's inaugural ball has undoubtedly rocket-propelled the New York based designer's career and effectively positioned him as one of America's fashion forces.

Wu's Spring Collection at the prestigious New York Fashion Week in Soho was well attended. The bluish underground  curved pavement runway reminisces New York's state of mind.

Jason Wu's influence can be outright trace to Yves Saint Laurent's impeccable and exuberant tailoring. His finely cut high waisted pants paired with neat ruffled blouse speaks sartorial feel. The knitted pull overs in stripes with printed draped skirt undoubtedly 80's, immaculate simplicity in details.

Wu's opener in beige well-cut pants, high waisted paired with white organza blouse with oversized bow give the impressions that Wu is on the right track in business and on runway as well. His tight fit- striped sweaters paired with flare trousers were refreshingly cute, with blue turbans complementing the look.

His elecric bluish purple gown in haltered neckline with dainty ruffles showed Wu's total control, as well as his fabulous pink silk chiffon in x-strapped neckline circular ruffles attached, denotes luxe restrained maturity.

Wu wooed fashion's major players, retailers, fashion critics and has absolutely won them over and undoubtedly gained more admirers as he continues to rock the fashion world....wuwuuuu!!

Christian Siriano: The Boy Inside the Project Runway Box NYFW SS2011

Opening the prestigious NYFW 2011 at Lincoln Hall with the fashionable "mob" that preceded outside hoping to catch a glimpse of his much awaited Spring Collection, one can't help but ask of the crowned prince of fashion : will you deliver the drama and fantasy you so promised?

"Fashion is about fantasy" he says, "and who doesn't love a little drama?....."

Christian Siriano is New York's much hyped boy who is being tagged as the TOM FORD of his generation. After winning the Project Runway four seasons ago, and presented his fifth collection, is there more to him than just meets the eye?

Bringing the audience to four corners of the world, from India, China, Africa and the Amazons, the show's tour de force was a matter of "unimaginative" drama after all.
The two layered bubble skirt is the most over used  fashion idea from amateur to professional drawing boards just few seasons ago.

Siriano's attempt to emphasize sophistication and glamour in his collection falls flat, to say the least. It is wanting in freshness of ideas and originality. Nevertheless, it is nice to see him out of the Project Runway box and explore further every corner of style universe and comeback with a vengeance next time around.
