A maverick "new" couturier who was accepted just couple of years at the elite club of grand Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture having full membership, presented a collection which married high-technology and superbly executed simplicity.
Stephane Rolland founded his own couture house a few seasons back, displaying a sleek, glamourous and slinky sihouettes with highly architectural details putting him above the new wannabes at the French Syndicale.
The young French couturier, showed a dramatic spring/summer and haute couture in Paris, which combined a fluid silhouette with hi-tech. His designs are for women who are strong, powerful and contemporary...with extreme self-confidence,
Rolland transformed lacquered paint to a soft consistency, which could be hand-painted onto silk faille and satin, creating organic splashes of colour: blood-red against cream, cobalt against pewter and gold on white.
A pewter short-sleeved cocktail dress, for example, was furnished with coils of Plexiglass around the shoulder-line and pockets. A black silk georgette shift featured a coiled Plexiglass hem and neckline and was finished with a short, ruffled train.
