Splash Autumn/Winter 2011: STYLE Coup d'Etat !!

Invitees flocked in hordes, queuing unpatiently in humid air to witness the most exciting runway show this season, the SPLASH AUTUMN/WINTER COLLECTION 2011 at the Madinat Jumeirah Dubai.

Screens were suspended on stage with jail-cages constructed in two layers, the dark and gothic setting added arresting curiousity. Intriguingly romantic, the use of technology and industrial LED-like hardware gave way to attention and appeal.

The tableaux of male models in military inspired apparels built the high octane show opener. The visuals and soundtracks were intense and intoxicating.

The mannequin's frozen stiff looks paraded out military-influenced items such as leather jackets,  long marcelled hairs and fleece hoods effortlessly whipped this season's dialogue between sporty and tailored.

Besides the famous khaki that seems to be everywhere this season especially when it comes to military trend, black and grey were introduced.
 The collection, which has been based on the eighties swing-coated military figures, is rich in moss green military jackets that seem to draw their inspiration from the Russian armies. Pants tucked into leather knee boots represented a surprising element in the SPLASH runway show.

Military trend extended a little bit for fall/winter 2010-2011, entering into the aviator area through leather jackets with fur collars, leather pants, and specific accessories. And, if there are essential items to keep in mind for this season are the sexy and femnine dresses worn with thigh high boots. Models looked  like Cossack cops, in ranged from the air-force gray of one bomber jacket and the army-green of another gunmetal gray that echoed the discipline of the military academy.

The second part of the collection defined a little arctic luxe with ice crystal knit prints looking so cool for guys and detached. The women's clothing are sensual in softly structured mini dresses with tight stockings and boots complementing the over-all seductive attitude.

Finally, Splash CEO- Raza Beig scored several notches up the style barometer, the A/W Collection is the best so far from his previous range of wonderful pret-a -porter collections. The fabulous sets and preparation by the BRAG team headed by party and event guru -Bong Guerrero is highly commendable. GO,GO,GO SPLASH!!!!!!!! FIERCE!

CARY SANTIAGO: Couture Speak!!!......

Fashion is evaluated by their style -worthiness..and there is one designer whose high fashion elements ,worth one's salt, the young set of Haute in Couture- CARY SANTIAGO.

The Old Cliche' is dead...long live the New Cliche!!......
Sartorial..Distinct..Progressive..and very well done. That's CARY SANTIAGO.

It took him almost a year to meticulously research and finalized the "Santiago look "on his upcoming MetroWear Bride on September 29, 2011...with two decades of experience and awards, Cary Santiago is cut out for the task.

Reference to Origami and history books was just the beginning. The real challenge was to create couture pieces straying away from all-over embellishment..without glitters, only pure high stitching and architectural craftsmanship.

Clean and fluid pieces without embellishments are tricky territory. Being stylish without being ostentatious; Cary Santiago's challenge is to present haute in couture by presenting skillfully cut designs with precise stitching..perfectly done....inside out. And there is no place to hide any mistake...no frills, no beadworks, no nothing......afraid? then by all means..go back to school! It is as much about the hanger as it is about the clothes.

The CARY SANTIAGO phenomenon and ‘the goodluck’ might bring new meaning and the desired effect, but certainly he knows what he is doing......!

THE CATALAN CUISINE: Truly Sumptuous!

The OSSIANO  might not ring a bell. But, it resonates. An exquisite elegance with fine dining arrogance is on the air when chef Santi Santamaria, the three star Michelin chef, offers gourmet food in a seductive ambience in the underwater world of Atlantis. In his first venture outside Europe, the ‘Architect of Food’ offers an intensity of flavours and a focus on technique with his Catalan cuisine in an elegant space inspired by the ocean depths.

Ossiano offers superb cuisine in a stunning setting in the underwater world of Atlantis. An elegant and mysterious space designed with variations of silver and pearl, it is the perfect location for an intimate dining experience, with unmatched views into the marine habitat filled with live sharks and fish.

No wonder, nothing seems to have been spared to make this fabulous, defined interior restaurant and bar lounge. Sculpting spaces, as we descended the restautant's long, winding staircase, is no longer about just décor and ambience. Here, its understated elegance.

The juxtaposition of such diverse elements as steel, grey leather, mesh, East European chandeliers and Venetian mirror and glass, serves a purpose, obviously wants to combine both the old world charm of refined dining and décor and the minimalist aesthetic of our times.

A large, tranquil expanse, hemmed by aquarium glass panels are the focal points aside from its soft blue glowing hush-hush ambience. The low-lit decor resonates romantic and mutedly decadent, and the soft opera music finishes this relaxing feel.
